About Me

Hello, I'm Jeannette Heinze-Graham, casually known as Netty.

I paint and I teach.  With my Paint and Sip with Netty division, I tour across 3 shires bringing the delights and fun of painting to newbies.  I also paint faces and bodies, and right now, I'm setting up my studio in Pambula so I can be amongst it and get really serious about both teaching more and painting "for myself" - that is, simply as an artist.

I’ve been a commercial and graphic artist all my life, creating artwork to suit whatever the job called for. Every now and then I’d paint for myself, but with so many styles and mediums in my toolkit, it was hard to pin down what I really wanted to express in my own voice.

Lately, that voice is becoming clearer — and it’s grounded in the country life I love. Very soon my online gallery will begin as I get my collection ready to show and offer for sale.

I wasn’t born into the Australian bush — but I chose it. Originally from Germany, I grew up in Australia, immersed in horses, cattle, and the land. The love and respect I have for the rural Aussie life, runs through what I paint. Living with animals always around me, I’ve come to see them as some of life’s truest teachers. Horses in particular have shown me how to be present, how to face things with honesty and grace, and how to move through challenges without self-pity.  I aim to bring that spirit into my work.

I believe the art on our walls shapes how we see the world. It can remind us of who we are, and who we want to be. My hope is that my paintings speak life, resilience, and quiet beauty into the spaces they’re in — that in the moment your eyes land on a piece, something settles in you, a quiet awe, even briefly.

Right now I’m working on The Stockman Series — a body of work inspired by the strength, connection, and rhythm of stockman life. These pieces are painted in a warm, earthy palette: the colours of timber, leather, dust, fur, and light. They’re designed to sit well in modern homes while honouring timeless values. I think most Australians feel something deep when they see the stockman’s world — the people, animals, and land in harmony. That’s what I’m painting.  (stay tuned to see the work)

I work mainly in acrylics, using a mix of transparent washes, dimensional paints, and textured surfaces to create atmosphere and depth. These paintings have physical presence — they shift as light moves across the surface, and you can feel their texture when you get close. Each is framed in handcrafted timber to add a sense of weight and grounding. In a world full of smooth digital art and endless prints, I want these works to be something real. Something you can live with.

I live in the beautiful Bega Valley with my husband, our dogs, cats, chooks, snake, horses and cattle on our gorgeous property at the foot of a range.  Just stepping outside is an inspiration.
